Google Is Helping to Save London Residents From Air Pollution

It's widely known that large cities often have problems when it comes to their air quality, and London is no exception. While experts are trying to find technological solutions to the problem itself, they're also trying to use technology to help keep track of the changes associated with a city's air quality. People need to know when it's less safe to go outside and when they should avoid certain areas. Obviously, all of these goals are related.

Now, Street View cars from Google will be there for the people of London. There will be two Street View vehicles driving through the city of London in order to gather data related to local air quality. These vehicles have their own sensors, which will enable them to get data on pressure, temperature, humidity, and local pollutant levels. Since they'll be gathering this data every thirty meters, they'll definitely be covering huge portions of the city.

London is full of older sensor networks, and many people in London are already used to projects like this. They're also worried about London's air quality. Thanks to projects like this, it should be that much easier to actually make progress when it comes to cleaning up London's air.

This is a new mission that demonstrates London's commitment to becoming greener. However, it also demonstrates the power of Google in the modern world. This is a project that strongly relates to the Internet of Things and similar trends. Soon, more everyday objects will be equipped with their own sensors. It will be easier for everyone involved to gather more and more data. They'll finally have all of the evidence that they need for just about anything. Lots of London residents will be interested in using that data to help the environment.
