Don't Miss the 2018 BBC Proms

The BBC Proms is coming up, and if you will be in London in July you absolutely must not miss it. It is the biggest classical music festival on earth and is held every year. This year it will run from 13th of July to 8th of September at the Royal Albert Hall.

The best thing about the BBC Proms is that it doesn't matter whether you are rich or not - this classical music festival is very cheap for attendees, with a charge of just £5 to enjoy the event of your choice. You can hear everything from the classics, dozens of the best orchestras in the world and lots of contemporary classical music.

You can get a season's ticket (less than £5) which means that you are allowed to attend all events. If you are not lucky enough to snag yourself one make sure that you get to the queue at Royal Albert Hall early enough - there are only 1,350 standing places available, but the crowds are often huge.

Here is a brief history of the BBC Proms. It is now in its 114th year and back in the 19th century it was held at the Queen's Hall on Upper Regent Street. This, unfortunately, was brought down during the Blitz in the Second World War. During this time all orchestras were conducted by the famous Sir Henry Wood whose bust you can see today at the Royal Albert Hall.

The Proms tradition nearly died in 1927 which is when the BBC stepped in with a simple mission - to provide world class classical music for all, in the best London surroundings at an affordable price.

This year there will be many celebrations of some of the world's most famous composers so make sure to book your tickets on time so you don't
